Kahuku Roadside Food Court

There’s a certain type of place that always comes up when searching for the best food while traveling.

You know the one.

Open air.
Views for days.
Ridiculous uniforms.

Previously frozen food served up haphazardly for prices that are crazy inflated.

Whether it’s the dollars they put behind ad placement that gets you in the door, or because they’re a legacy brand, more often than not you end up leaving without the amazing food or jaw-dropping experience that was promised initially - which is why we like to make our plans based on word-of-mouth recommendations and digging deep into the local scene.

Cue the Kahuku Roadside Food Court off the Kamehameha Highway on the North Shore of Oahu, where you can try several types of local food prepared with love for less than the price of one cruddy dinner in a dark corner at B*zz’s.

Home to the biggest and best variety of food trucks on the island, including Hula Ula and their famous Lobster Dog, Da Bald Guy from the Netflix Street Food series, the beautiful and healthy Country Eatery & Juicery, a less-busy location of the world-famous Giovanni’s Shrimp, and my personal favorite, Seven Brothers at the Mill.

The only thing missing is a Leonard’s Malasada Truck, but you can still show your sweet tooth some love with a piece of Mom’s Banana Bread at Seven Brothers after enjoying what I dare say is the best burger I’ve ever had.

The Paniolo, or Cowboy Burger, is a perfectly-cooked beef patty topped with your typical lettuce and tomato.

But it doesn’t stop there.

It’s then stacked with bacon, grilled onions and pineapple, melted American cheese and two GIANT homemade onion rings before being smothered in their unctuous house and barbecue sauces.

Served alongside this burger that’s bigger than your head?
A pile of thinly sliced, crisp (yet pillowy) home fries that are seasoned to perfection.

No joke, if there’s one thing on the North Shore of Oahu you need to eat, it’s the Paniolo Burger from Seven Brothers at the Kahuku Roadside Food Court - along with everything else every other vendor has to serve.
