Must Eats on the North Shore of Oahu

Must Eats on the North Shore of Oahu

It’s no secret that when we travel, much of our day is designed around food.

Heck, that’s the way we roll at home, too – searching for local secrets, ever-popular must tries, and iconic eats.

Today we’re talking about MUST EATS on the North Shore of Oahu - so bookmark this page for the next time you visit the islands to get a taste of these memorable treats.

Ted’s Bakery

Located on the Kamehameha Highway near Sunset Beach, Ted’s Bakery has been offering a variety of cakes, pies and plate lunches for the last 36 years, and has been voted Hawaii’s Best every year since 2016.

Funnily enough, we knew none of that when we skirted into the parking lot after driving past several times over the previous week.

We just saw the word ‘bakery’ and thought it was the perfect time to get after something sweet - so we left with two forks and a slice of the Pineapple Macadamia Nut Cheesecake to be shared while enjoying the sunset from the beach.

Creamy, flake, nutty and citrusy - everything about this cake… well, the entire moment, was beyond dreamy.

Seven Brothers

A family-owned restaurant with several locations across the island, we LOVE visiting Seven Brothers: Kahuku ‘at the mill’.

If you’re planning to eat (as you should), opt for the Paniolo Burger, which will show up standing taller than your head, packed with homemade onion rings, special sauce, cheese, lettuce, tomato, grilled pineapple, bacon and a side of fried chips that are to die for.

But so much more than a meal, Seven Brothers also has a beautiful boutique where we were able to get gifts for our grand babies, super cute beach gear and swag to take home that we wear on the regular.

Not to mention a taste of the Seven Brothers’ Mom’s famous banana bread from the pastry case.

Such a fabulous experience, we made a stop here at least weekly during our month and a half stay.

Da Bald Guy

With shrimp trucks all over the island, it’s hard to know exactly which one to go to, but in our opinion, it’s Da Bald Guy.

All the way.

His peel and eat shrimp are not only superior because the flavor is like WOW, but also, he goes ahead and peels them for you.

Not to mention he has THE BEST Mac Salad we had on the entire island during our stay.

Open Monday through Saturday, serving lunch all day from 6am to 2pm and breakfast until 10am, Da Bald Guy’s food truck (that offers so much more than shrimp) is surrounded by picnic tables and located in the parking lot near the aforementioned Seven Brothers.

Oh, and wondering why the name kind of sounds familiar?

Da Bald Guy was recently featured on Netflix’s Street Food, as well as the Food Network’s Great Food Truck Race, which is really super neat.
