It’s okay if you’re drooling.
I mean, how could you NOT with these Nashville Hot Chicken Tenders.
Golden, brown and delicious – these Chicken Tendies are the perfect Friday movie night treat.
Serve with slices of white bread and pickles on the side.
Oh, and don’t forget the Ranch dressing for dipping perfection.
here’s what you’ll need
1 lb chicken tendies
2 cups flour
2 tsp paprika
2 tsp cayenne
3 tsp garlic powder
2 tsp salt
1 tsp onion powder
1 tsp cajun seasoning
1 tsp dried oregano
1 tsp pepper
2 cups buttermilk
1/2 stick butter
2 tbsp honey
1/3 cup hot sauce
canola oil
here’s what you’ll need to do
In a medium-sized mixing bowl, season your chicken with half the cayenne, half the garlic powder, onion powder, cajun seasoning, oregano, half the salt and pepper.
Add your buttermilk and 1/4 cup of hot sauce.
Mix and marinate for at least a half hour.
In a separate bowl, mix your dry ingredients: flour, paprika, half the cayenne, half the garlic powder and half the salt.
Take a piece of chicken from the marinade, lightly coat it in your dry ingredients, pop it BACK in the marinade, then lightly coat it in your dry ingredients again.
Set aside on a wire rack while you coat the rest of your chicken.
Over medium heat, CAREFULLY heat a couple inches of oil in a heavy, deep-sided pot (like a Dutch Oven) until it reaches about 350 degrees.
CAREFULLY place your pieces of chicken into the hot oil using tongs, and fry until golden, brown and delicious.
This should take about 7 to 8 minutes.
Once cooked through, CAREFULLY remove your chicken from the HOT oil using tongs and place your chicken on a paper-towel lined plate to cool.
Meanwhile, mix your butter, honey and 2 tablespoons of hot sauce in a separate bowl.
I like to simmer the sauce ingredients over medium heat for just a couple of minutes until the sauce thickens and is warmed through, but you certainly don’t have to.
Once all of your chicken is done, place it on a serving tray, drizzle with your hot honey butter sauce (YUM) and enjoy alongside some sliced bread, pickles and ranch for dipping.
